Getting Behind In Her Work: It’s obvious by now that Nike, Fila and adidas are outfitting their contracted players to exude sex.
To that end, the hot pants that Serena Williams wore during her match Thursday weren’t as hot as they were pathetic. As mom used to say, “She doesn’t have the figure for it.”
And if Nike’s fashion strategists think that they’re doing Ms. Williams or Nike any favors, they’re way off.

Of course ESPN2 wanted you to think that the Serena Williams-Maria Kirilenko match – a three-set, near-shocker – from the French Open, shown early Thursday afternoon, was appearing live.
Of course, it wasn’t appearing live. Of course, those who briefly tuned elsewhere risked having the match ruined for them by learning that it was over and Williams had won.
And one of the places that was reporting the final, highlights included, was ESPN, which, on many cable systems, sits next to ESPN2.
Of course, had ESPN2 been honest and displayed a “same-day tape” graphic in the corner of the screen, viewers would’ve been bolted to ESPN2 rather than risk learning the outcome.
And, of course, TV folks who practice the art of such deception are actually practiced in the art of self-deception.
