Last week Billy, 24, a party photographer for Patrick McMullan, chose Jen, 27, a brand strategist, over Dana, a trainee journalist, and Tangie, a beauty editor – and our readers agreed he made the right choice (note: probably). They went to the new Bleecker Street hot spot August, and quickly clicked.
She says:
When I arrived at August, Billy was already there. I had already found out that he was a party photographer, so I was really interested to see who this guy was. He is really cute – he has a great smile, and a great face – and right away I thought he was very attractive, with a little glimmer in his eye, which I really liked.
We had a delicious dinner, it was really nice, and as we ate, he told me his life story. It was so interesting. He moved to New York not knowing what he was going to do, but knowing that he wanted to paint. He’s an artist as well!
We used his camera skills to good advantage when the photographer turned up. He was, like, “No, no, this is your best side,” and he was right.
He is such a confident guy; he was chatting and joking with everyone in the restaurant, which was really funny. We had so much fun, and it was really interesting to hear about his work. He had a lot of insights into this whole other world, and he’s obviously really talented.
After dinner, we wanted to hang out some more, so we went off to his studio just down the road. We sat out on the patio and played cards for an hour, and then he took me inside and showed me all his paintings and photography.
After that, we went to a bar on 14th Street for a bit, and we were still getting on really well. To start with, I had thought he was a bit young for me, but by now I was really glad he was a bit younger. I don’t know if an older guy would be so open. Or maybe that’s just Billy.
We took a cab home, and he kissed me on the cheek when I got out. Honestly, that’s as far as it went, but it was only a first date. We were definitely best friends at the end of the date, and I think there could be romantic potential. I would like to go out with him again. He’s the kind of guy I’d just like to be able to e-mail or call and tell him if something funny happened in my day.

He says:
We had such a good time. She got there, like, 30 seconds after me, and right away, we just broke into conversation. It was cool. Really, there wasn’t a single uncomfortable moment, which is pretty rare, I think.
We talked all the usual first date stuff – all about our backgrounds and our jobs – and I just thought she was very easy to be around.
I talked about my job quite a bit, just because people are always really interested in it. It’s funny being a party photographer. It ends up really raising your threshold for excitement. I have to be at a really great party before I start having fun.
She laughed a lot – I wasn’t sure if it was a nervous laugh – but, overall, I think we were really comfortable with each other.
After dinner, I took her back to Patrick’s studio, and we just hung out, playing this dumb card game called War that neither of us knew the rules to, which was fun. I showed her some of my paintings and some projects I am working on.
We went to a bar on 14th Street after that, and we actually picked up a copy of The Post so we could see what we had let ourselves in for.
We decided to catch a cab home together. I gave her a kiss, but we didn’t make out or anything in the back of the cab.
I think we were both kind of attracted to each other. She was tall, pleasant, good-looking and there was just never an awkward moment.
So yeah, I think I am going to call her – and see if we can maybe hang out again. There were definite sparks there. Whether they’ll catch fire or not … well, who knows? I’d say, maybe.
