A Brooklyn mother of three was arrested on child-endangerment charges yesterday after a fire broke out inside her Bushwick apartment where she left her three children home alone for approximately two hours, police sources said.
The blaze erupted just before noon inside a fourth-floor apartment on Marion Street where Michelle Davis left her kids – two sons, 5 years and 10 months old, and a daughter, 3 – by themselves for reasons that remain unclear, police said.
A tenant in the building was able to rescue the kids and no injuries were reported, police said.
The fire started when the 3-year-old was playing with the stove.
The blaze was confined to the kitchen area, but there was smoke and fire damage throughout the apartment and much of the family’s furniture was left destroyed on the street, police and neighbors said.
The children were taken in by the Administration for Children’s Services, but were later placed in the care of an aunt.
