Martha Stewart, who has guided fans on how to prepare and expertly carve succulent turkey for years, will be spending one of her favorite holidays behind bars.
But never fear – she’ll get her fair share of Thanksgiving grub, although it might not be up to snuff.
Like all federal inmates, Stewart will be served a Thanksgiving meal that includes the basic turkey, mashed potatoes, veggies and dessert.
Not bad – but a far cry from the perfect turkey, roasted-garlic potatoes and caramelized chestnuts she might have whipped up herself. Meanwhile, in a new message posted on her personal Web site, Stewart said she still feels grateful this Thanksgiving for her fans’ support.
She also said she is “safe, fit and healthy” and is being treated fairly by staff and other inmates at the federal women’s lockup in Alderson, W.Va.
“As you would expect, the loss of freedom and the lack of privacy are extremely difficult,” the message says.
“In short, I am in good spirits and making the best of this difficult situation.
“Visits from my friends, family and colleagues – together with your good will and best wishes – will get me through this chapter of my life.”
