JULIA NOW A MOM, TWO – TWINS BORN MONTH EARLY

The stork arrived more than a month early for Julia Roberts, who gave birth to twins yesterday.

The Oscar- winning star and hubby Danny Moder named the new arrivals, a girl and a boy, Hazel Patricia and Phinnaeus Walter.

“Mother and babies are doing great,” said Roberts’ publicist, Marcy Engelman. She did not reveal their twins’ weights.

The little bundles of joy weren’t due date until early January.

People magazine said they were born at 3 a.m. in an undisclosed Los Angeles hospital. Roberts has been seeing doctors at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

It’s a happy ending for Roberts, 37, who’d had a few pre-birth scares along the way. Last month, she was rushed to the hospital after experiencing early contractions. Doctors said the condition was not serious, and the contractions stopped, but they urged the flame-haired star to remain in bed until she gave birth.

Twins run in Roberts’ family – her great-grandmother and a pair of cousins are twins. “I’m enormous. The bigger it gets, the smaller my ass looks, so I’m kind of enjoying this,” the actress said in an interview earlier this month.

“Let me tell you something, my babies weigh 6 pounds each. That’s 12 pounds of just baby in me right now, and I still have miles to go before I sleep with them. They’re bionic. It’s pretty amazing.”

Roberts will now take some time off to play full-time mom, but her fans won’t know the difference. She’ll be in two movies opening next month: “Ocean’s Twelve,” the sequel to “Ocean’s Eleven,” co-starring George Clooney and Brad Pitt, and “Closer,” a Mike Nichols flick with Jude Law and Natalie Portman.
