Daniel Berger has been sweating it out ever since he smacked down the competition in Week 12 with an 11-4-1 record.
One competitor came close. Paul Ellsworth went 10-4-2 in Week 16, with one glaring misread: He picked his beloved Jets to cover against the Patriots, something they failed to do.
No matter. Berger, thanks to a combination of luck and skill, has won $1,000 and, more importantly, can boast the title of 2005 Fan’s Corner champion.
“It’s very satisfying,” Berger said. “I will wear the title of New York Post Fan’s Corner champion proudly. I just want to thank the Jets fan that went with his heart.”
We’re sure Ellsworth is happy for him.
Berger, an avid golfer and even more avid golf rules enforcer, said he will use the money during a trip to Las Vegas for a friend’s wedding.
David’s Wild Card picks are: Bucs, Patriots, Giants, Steelers.
Last week’s fan, Murray Kellman, went 9-6-1 for a winning percentage of .594.
