Lifestyle maven Martha Stewart’s bid to clear her name has flopped like a bad soufflé.
An appeals court issued a written opinion yesterday upholding a federal jury’s conviction of Stewart and her former stockbroker Peter Bacanovic for lying to investigators about the domestic diva’s questionable sale of nearly 4,000 shares of stock.
But Stewart, 64, had little to lose, having already wrapped up a 10-month sentence last summer.
Bacanovic, 43, also wrapped his five-month sentence last year.
“We are disappointed for Martha, but this does not affect her ability to continue to do everything she’s been doing for the company since coming home,” a spokeswoman for Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia said.
