Valery Lozada, the 4-year-old found wandering the streets of Middle Village, Queens, in September after her mother was murdered, will have to wait until at least May to learn who her new parents will be.
Yesterday’s custody hearing was rescheduled to Feb. 17 after a judge ordered Valery’s maternal grandmother, Roxana Rivadineira, who wants to take her back to Bolivia, to submit to forensic and psychological testing.
Rivadineira said the custody battle with Valery’s foster parents – her aunt and uncle, Renee and Mauricio Escalera of Babylon, Long Island – was getting under her skin.
“I want my granddaughter. She’s my blood. They are nothing like family,” Rivadineira said of the Escaleras, who declined to comment.
Cesar Ascarrunz, 32, is charged with slashing and strangling Monica Lozada in their Forest Hills home.
