Isiah Thomas found himself the subject of sexual harassment litigation brought by a former team executive. Whether he’s guilty or innocent – we shall have to wait for the Bush administration’s eavesdropping to run its course – at least Thomas has managed to get the pathetic Knicks on the front page twice this season.
Once when he brought in his coach and once when he brought in his lawyer.
By the way, it sure was nice of Larry Brown to support Thomas. Votes of confidence don’t come any weaker than, “I’ve known him since high school. Let’s see how this plays out.”
Same goes for the players who went out and lost one for the boss they just threw their weight behind. Dropping an extra-session extravaganza to the depleted Kings, playing their fourth road game in five nights – coach Rick Adelman dressed 10, played eight and trusted 3 ½ – was dreadfully impressive.
Just for the record, I’m not about to vouch for the character of Thomas, someone I’ve known for almost 30 years and worked alongside at NBC for three, or anyone else for that matter.
In fact, I’m not sure I’d even vouch for myself, and that’s with two reference letters from impeccable citizens.
