The suspect charged in the brutal slaying of Cape Cod fashion writer Christa Worthington is seeking to have the DNA sample that led to his arrest thrown out, claiming his probation officer tricked him into giving it to cops.
Worthington, a 46-year- old writer and single mother, was found stabbed and beaten in her Truro, Mass., home in January 2002. Suspect Christopher McCowen, 34, a trash hauler, was linked to the killing three years later by the DNA.
In a motion filed yesterday, McCowen said his probation officer tricked him into giving the sample by failing to tell him he was a suspect in the Worthington murder.
