An actor busted at Bronx Supreme Court last year carrying a real police uniform, fake gun, and genuine ammunition clip pleaded guilty yesterday to disorderly conduct.
Preston Handy, 63, of Brooklyn was at the courthouse last April 15, answering charges of petit larceny and stolen property involving a dispute with a former roommate.
Afterward, he was planning to head to Chelsea Piers for a gig as an extra in a “Law and Order: Criminal Intent” shoot.
Court officers busted Handy, despite the fact that he showed his Screen Actors Guild card as well as a letter from the NYPD giving him permission to buy the uniform.
Handy – a self-described “twinkle, not a movie star” – was originally charged with criminal impersonation.
He decided to plead to the lesser charge to end the saga.
“I was told that that was the only thing I could do without the risk of a criminal record and a lengthy trial,” he said.
He was given a conditional discharge.
