LOS ANGELES – Lawyers want to pry open Michael Jackson’s wallet and the singer’s most private legal papers about his on-going child-custody battle, according to court documents.
The lawyer for ex-wife Debbie Rowe claims Jackson has fallen behind in his court-ordered obligation to pay her legal fees.
Rowe’s lawyer Iris Finsilver and Jackson’s legal eagle could not be immediately reached for comment. But in court papers, Finsilver claimed Jackson owes her more than $75,000.
Rowe and Jackson have been fighting over their children Prince Michael, 8, and Paris, 7. Jackson, 47, now has full custodial rights and has been living with his kids overseas since he was acquitted last summer of kiddie-sex charges in Santa Barbara County.
The family court is making Jackson pay Rowe’s legal fees – a common order in cases where one side of a custody battle makes more money than the other. A hearing is set for March 17.
