A Long Island man was struck and killed by a speeding car as he crossed a busy stretch of road in Lake Grove, police said yesterday.
Errol Katz, 21, of West Islip, was trying to cross Jericho Turnpike at 11:50 p.m. Saturday night when he was struck by a Nissan 200SX driven by Damion Ford, 31, of Lake Grove, Suffolk County police said.
Ford pulled over and called 911. Katz was rushed to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he died.
Police gave Ford a speeding summons and do not expect any additional charges to be filed.
