STARR REPORT

Star mapping

Star Jones is due back on “The View” today (11 a.m./Ch. 7), a week after mixing it up with co-host Joy Behar after phoning into the show to discuss her recent elective surgery (Jones called Behar a “b***h” after Behar cut her off).

It kicks off a busy week for Jones, who also receives the first Woman of Achievement Award today from Dress for Success at their annual April gala (the Marriott Marquis). Jones is a longtime supporter of the organization. Tomorrow, Jones joins Leslie Stahl and others to honor John Demsey, chairman of the MAC AIDS Fund, who’s receiving the Golden Heart Award at the Authors in Kind Luncheon for God’s Love We Deliver (Rainbow Room). Author/prosecutor Linda Fairstein emcees. Joan Rivers was scheduled to attend, but is currently in Australia.

Last, but not least:

* “Brokeback Mountain” out on DVD tomorrow – which, incidentally, is co-star and Oscar nominee Heath Ledger’s birthday.

* Congrats to Barbara Warren (“Live with Regis & Kelly”), who’s been promoted to VP, publicity, at Buena Vista. Well-deserved.

* “Totally Spies!” kicks off its fourth season today on Cartoon Network’s Miguzi programming block.

* Tomorrow in L.A.: SCI FI holding auditions for Stan Lee’s “Who Wants to Be A Superhero?” (10 a.m.-1 p.m.) at Sunset Gower Studios (1438 N. Gower St.). Winner will have their character immortalized in a Stan Lee-created comic book. Whowantstobeasuperhero.tv has details.

* Former “Extra” senior producer Richard Ayoub has joined ManiaTV! (a live Internet TV network) as VP, programming.

* Opening Day today at Shea (1 p.m./SportsNet NY). Glavine on the hill. Let’s go Mets!

* Gloria Monty, the soap-opera innovator who created the famous Luke and Laura romance (right) that put “General Hospital” on the map, has died of cancer. In true daytime-drama fashion, her age was not disclosed.

* “American Inventor” has run into a bit of bad weather. After its first two strong weeks in the ratings, the Simon Cowell-produced show got bounced hard last week. Ratings were down 30 percent.
