The Duke University lacrosse team members accused of raping a stripper were angry she didn’t perform enough lap dances, but they never attacked the woman, said a lawyer for one of the players.
“Some of the boys felt they’d been ripped off, and so they were angry,” Joseph Cheshire, who represents team co-captain Dave Evans, told the CBS Early Show yesterday.
“Were there ugly words that may have been spoken that are inappropriate? Yes. Was there any kind of rape that happened? No.”
The stripper, a 27-year-old black woman, claims she was raped by a group of white players.
