Longshot Republican gubernatorial hopeful Randy Daniels,a former New York secretary of state, revealed yesterday that he was quitting the race and throwing his support behind onetime rival John Faso. Daniels,in phone calls to state GOP leaders, said he had concluded that he didn ‘t have enough support to win the party ‘s nomination in a field dominated by Faso,a former Assembly minority leader, and former Mass.Gov.William Weld.
Weld is expected to try to deny Faso enough votes at the party ‘s convention next month to make it difficult for him to appear on the September primary ballot.
