Police yesterday busted a Queens man who’s a “guns and roses fan” – he’s a gardener with a cache of nearly 40 high-powered weapons, they said.
Robert Roma, 67, was arrested after cops received a 911 call summoning them to his Little Neck home, where he was fighting with a relative, police sources said.
When they took Roma into custody, police spotted an AK-47-style assault rifle, they said.
They obtained a warrant to search the house, where they also found an AR-15 assault rifle and a case of ammunition, cops said.
Roma later admitted under questioning to keeping another large cache of guns at a storage facility, in New Hyde Park, L.I., police said.
Cops seized 21 more assault rifles; 10 shotguns; six other rifles, an assortment of knives and an array of ammunition, authorities said.
A neighbor said Roma ran a “very successful landscaping business” with a daughter, and tended residential and commercial gardens in both Little Neck and Great Neck, L.I.
She said that she was “surprised” by the arrest.
Cops could not immediately explain why Roma possessed so many guns.
