MARY’S HOT PICK

TOMORROW’S “Soul to Soul” concert at Central Park SummerStage (3 p.m.; Rumsey Playfield; summerstage.org) brings New Orleans to New York and will raise money for one slice of the ravaged city along the way. A suggested donation of $30 will benefit the New Orleans Musicians Clinic.

The Wild Magnolia Mardi Gras Indians with Big Chief Bo Dollis will display the gorgeous pageantry of the annual festival, as the members don their elaborate costumes and perform rootsy soul sounds, including their ’70s single, “Honda Wanda.” NOLA’s city government anointed Irma Thomas (pictured) the “Soul Queen of New Orleans” because she is. She recorded the original version of the very familiar, “Time is on My Side” and other classics. Her long-ago debut single was a killer: “You Can Have My Husband (But Don’t Mess With My Man).” Her home was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina, but the singer returned to Louisiana to record her latest, “After the Rain.” For the opener of this Big Easy to the Big Apple show, the Hot 8 Brass Band will swing in the Crescent City’s Second Line tradition.
