Beleaguered Brooklyn judge Gerald Garson, who resigned from the bench in 2004, will undergo cancer surgery at the end of the month.
His lawyers say that because of the operation – to remove three tumors from his bladder – the 74-year-old judge won’t be able to go on trial for bribery for at least nine months.
“He’s frail,” said lawyer Ronald Fischetti. “His prognosis is not very optimistic.”
Garson had a similar surgery in January.
He is accused of taking bribes from crooked lawyer Paul Siminovsky for fixing cases.
A spokesman said the Brooklyn DA’s Office has no problem putting off his case, which was set to begin next month.
