The daredevil who almost jumped off the Empire State Building almost jumped bail yesterday.
Jumping Jeb Corliss was six hours late for his scheduled appearance in Manhattan court, where he’s on the hook for April charges of felony reckless endangerment and resisting arrest.
A bench warrant was issued and then rescinded when Corliss – who is free on $3,000 bail – finally showed up after the lunch break for his routine court appearance. His lawyer chalked the delay up to an innocent attorney-client miscommunication.
“Absolutely nothing!” the cranky Corliss, 30, snapped when a reporter asked what he’s been up to since the aborted high-tech stunt. Since then, he’s been fired from his job hosting an extreme-sports show on the Discovery Channel.
“You guys were awful to me,” he said of the city newspapers, one of which called him a “jumping jerk.” “I mean, it was satanic!” he griped of his coverage.
