BRAD Garrett has been separated from his wife since April, but has only recently told his parents, co-workers and close friends.
The comedy giant (he’s 6′ 8 1/2″ tall) revealed in an interview that he and wife Jill Diven, whom he married in 1998 and with whom he has two children, ages 6 and 7, filed separation papers in April.
They are now divorced, USA Today reported yesterday, but kept that fact a secret from family and friends until just a few days ago.
Garrett, 46, told his parents only a few days ago, the newspaper said.
He says the split has been amicable. “Our No. 1 focus is our kids and parenting,” Garrett said. “We will always be friends because we will never be single parents. We will always be two parents.
“You can’t stay together for the kids, because kids know everything. Sure, it’s daunting to have Daddy move out, but when he’s back two days later, and he gives Mom a hug, and everyone goes to lunch – that’s what it’s about,” Garrett said.
Coincidentally, Garrett is co-starring with Joely Fisher in a new Fox sitcom titled ” ‘Til Death” about warring spouses.
