WASHINGTON – John Kerry yesterday slammed his Senate colleague Joe Lieberman as “dead wrong” on Iraq.
Kerry (D-Mass.) accused now-independent Lieberman, the Democratic vice-presidential nominee in 2000, of parroting the phrases of Vice President Dick Cheney about the war in Iraq and its critics.
“I am concerned that he is making a Republican case and he is uttering almost the same words as Vice President Cheney, and I think it’s inappropriate,” Kerry fumed on ABC’s “This Week.”
Lieberman tried to put some distance between himself and the GOP leadership yesterday by calling for Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld to resign.
“We would benefit from new leadership to work with our military in Iraq,” he said on CBS’s “Face the Nation.”
