‘THE Bionic Woman,” the 1970s superhero series, is going to get the “Battlestar Galactica” treatment.
NBC, the last network to air the series, has commissioned the producer who re-imagined “Galactica” to do the same to the Lindsay Wagner series, according to reports.
“The Bionic Woman” was a spin-off of the hit “Six Million Dollar Man” series – though never as successful – about tennis pro Jamie Sommers, who was fitted with super-powered limbs and a bionic ear after a plane crash.
The new series “will be a complete reconceptualization of the title,” producer David Eick told Variety. “We’re using the title as a starting point, and that’s all.”
Eick is credited with re-inventing “Galactica” from its hokey sci-fi beginnings into one of the biggest hits on cable.
