Considering the alternative, the Giants were relieved yesterday that the battery of tests on tight end Jeremy Shockey’s right ankle and foot all came back negative.
That means the injuries that have slowed the tight end are not structural and there’s a decent chance he’ll be able to play Sunday in Atlanta.
For now, the soreness in Shockey’s ankle and foot will be monitored on a day-to-day basis.
If he feels strong enough to practice today, he will; if not, he’ll sit.
The Giants hope Shockey will be able to get enough practice time on the field to make him viable to face the Falcons in Atlanta.
Shockey initially hurt his ankle in the final preseason game (Aug. 31) against the Patriots. He injured his foot last Sunday against the Redskins.
