Cory Lidle’s heartbroken loved ones will give the late Yankee pitcher one final big-league ovation today, during memorial services near his Southern California home.
Lidle, killed Wednesday in a fiery plane crash on the Upper East Side, is set to be buried during an outdoor ceremony at Forest Lawn cemetery in Covina, which will be followed by a memorial service at Faith Community Church in West Covina.
The pitcher’s family has urged fans to donate money, in lieu of flowers, to the pregnant wife and child of flight instructor Tyler Stanger, 26, also killed when Lidle’s small plane crashed into the Belaire apartment building. Stars from the Yankees and Philadelphia Phillies, Lidle’s former team, will attend today’s service.
