The Gap Inc. announced the appointment of Dawn Robertson as the new president of its Old Navy division, The Post has learned.
Currently a senior executive with Australian retailer Coles Myer, Robertson is replacing longtime Gap executive Jenny Ming, who said in July that she planned to leave her post at the helm of Old Navy this autumn.
Robertson, who has developed a reputation as a talented merchant and retailer in her 25-year career spent largely at the nation’s major department store chains, is arriving at the Gap at a time of turmoil.
After several seasons of disappointing sales, the Gap is pinning turnaround hopes on the current fall and approaching holiday seasons.
The Old Navy chain has by far undergone the most dramatic changes, adding more fashion and some higher priced items to its core offerings of basic apparel at inexpensive prices.
Gap closed at $19.49, down 36 cents for the session.
