More evidence of GOP storm clouds emerged yesterday as a poll found an overwhelming majority of Americans set to vote the Democrats back in charge of Congress.
The Newsweek survey found 55 percent planning to vote Democratic and 37 percent Republican on Nov. 7.
Perhaps more alarming for the Grand Old Party is that only 60 percent of evangelicals, a usually reliable demographic for it, said they would vote Republican – down from 74 percent after the 2004 presidential election.
The poll surveyed 1,000 adults on Oct. 19 and 20.
