REEL GOOD – LINDA STASI PREVIEWS THIS WEEK’S BEST MOVIES

TOOTSIE (1982)

Tuesday,8 p.m.,TCM

In order to get a soap opera gig, a desperate actor (Dustin Hoffman) disguises himself as a woman (what else is new?), and manages to fool his agent, his co-star (Jessica Lange), and of course, himself when he and the gorgeous co-star become too cozy. Too funny.

NASHVILLE (1975)

Wednesday, 1:30 a.m.,TCM

A fantastic Robert Altman free-for-all with more 1970’s stars per square inch than was probably even legal. Henry Gibson, Lily Tomlin star, but be sure to catch Keith Carradine doing an unbelievably sexy version of his Oscar-winning song “I’m Easy.”

BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN (1935)

Wednesday,10:15 a.m.,AMC

In this great, great sequel to the 1931 classic “Frankenstein,” Frankenstein’s monster (Boris Karloff) finds a bride (Elsa Lancaster), who also happens to be cobbled together from spare parts. Tragically, she has the nerve to reject her Franken fiancé! Dark, and darkly funny, with hair that’s bigger than Marge Simpson’s.

KING KONG (1933)

Saturday,6 p.m.,TCM

An adventurer (Robert Armstrong) takes an expedition and an actress (Fay Wray) to an island filled with prehistoric monsters and one monster of an ape who falls for the actress. He brings both of ’em back to NYC kicking and screaming. The first, the best, the only “Kong”!
