Blustery Mother Nature let it rip again yesterday, as winds topped 50 mph in the metro area, leaving thousands of people without electricity for another day.
The high winds – which hit 54 mph in Newark but hovered between 40 to 50 mph over most of the area – continued to pressure repair crews fighting an uphill battle to restore power knocked out by Friday night’s storm.
Con Ed said its worst-hit area was Westchester, where some 480 customers went without juice during the day. About 600 Queens customers also lost power.
