APRIL 22 – “Who would have expected that an American and an Australian would find love in Africa?” says Jennifer Oxford. The Queens resident met Paul Martyn while traveling in Egypt in 2005, and their passion for travel fostered their romance as they trekked through several continents. On Jan. 8, 2007, Martyn proposed over the telephone from across the world. Though the pair planned to have a wedding in September in Australia, they couldn’t resist tying the knot during Martyn’s visit to New York in April. Sixty guests gathered in Brooklyn Bridge Park to watch Oxford, a procurement manager at American Express, and Martyn, an executive director at the Queensland Department of State Development, exchange vows against the Manhattan skyline. “I love New York City, but I never dreamed I’d get married here,” says Martyn. “It’s a fantastic place.”
