May 26 – For most people, April Fools’ Day is for playing jokes. For Michael Ramos, though, April 1, 2006, was one of the most serious days of his life. “He surprised me with a weekend trip to Bermuda and proposed on the beach,” says Kristi Schwindt. “It wasn’t like he planned it for April Fools’ Day – it just happened to be a good weekend!” Four years after they met in 2003, Schwindt, who works at the Office of Graduate Affairs at NYU’s Law School, and Ramos, who works at the Faculty Resource Network at NYU, exchanged vows in front of 165 guests at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in the bride’s hometown of Syracuse. The Manhattan couple had their first dance to Toad the Wet Sprocket’s “All I Want” before jetting off to Moorea for eight days.
