At least six professional wrestlers, including former champ Lex Luger and current star Rey Mysterio, were implicated in a federal investigation of a Georgia doctor indicted for illegally prescribing painkillers to Chris Benoit.
The wrestlers’ names were revealed in a search warrant obtained by Fox News after the seizure of Dr. Phil Astin’s medical records in Carrolton, Ga.
Federal agents raided Astin’s office after discovering Benoit and his family dead in their Fayetteville, Ga., home on June 25. The Drug Enforcement Administration said Astin supplied Benoit with steroids that may have exacerbated ” ‘roid rage,” leading Benoit to kill his wife and child before hanging himself.
Other wrestlers the feds obtained a search warrant for were Marcus “Buff” Bagwell, Robert Howard, known as Bob Holly, and Mark Jindrak.
