CAN’T QUINN QUIET VIOLA’S VIOLENT VOICE?

THE ISSUE: The firing of City Council staffer Viola Plummer for threatening behavior.

“Quinn Played Like a Viola” (Andrea Peyser, July 11) is a snapshot of what ails this country.

Divided by race, culture and opposing political views, we have lost sight of our responsibilities toward our nation and ourselves.

What Viola Plummer did was wrong. She should grow up and apologize like someone who has gained some wisdom and self-respect.

It’s not the white community that’s disrespecting Plummer, it’s Plummer disrespecting herself.

I am not sympathetic to Plummer, nor do I believe that she serves the best interest of the constituency.

By arguing racial discrimination in her suspension and termination, she does an incredible disservice to all persons of color.

Do us all a favor and save the racial discrimination arguments for those situations where it actually occurs.

Plummer should own up to the fact that she is a classless individual who believes an “assassination” is the way to deal with someone with whom she disagrees.

Plummer said she would not back down to white power, but said nothing about closing her stupid mouth.

Try taking responsibility for yourself.

If someone said they were going to assassinate the president, they would be locked up. She is very lucky.

Plummer was terminated because she stated she wanted someone assassinated, and now she is accusing City Council Speaker Christine Quinn of discrimination?

Please, someone step in and stop this madness.

I’m glad to see that Quinn has fired Plummer, who forgot that she was working for the city.

Our payroll can do without her.

The problem is that Councilman Charles Barron and Plummer think they’re back in junior high school, where anything goes. There you can be as defiant as can be and get away with it.

Sorry, folks. It’s graduation time.

Plummer’s lawsuit against Quinn makes my blood boil.

The most disgraceful aspect of her conduct is the almost sacrilegious use of legal remedies designed to correct our nation’s shameful history of true racism.

How dare she compare herself to people who really were disenfranchised or those who actually lived in areas where many of the police and local officials did belong to the Ku Klux Klan?

What an insult to the civil-rights movement, its true heroes and its martyrs.

I was shocked to read that Plummer was using the race card to try to hold on to her job.

What next? Rev. Al Sharpton backs the white woman?

I have a solution to at least one of the issues involved in this debacle.

If Plummer really wants to name a street after Sonny Carson, I see no reason to deny her request.

However, I think it’s only fair that we rename a street in Manhattan after Byron De La Beckwith, Bull Connor or George Wallace.

Plummer disrupts council meetings with terms like “cracker” and threatens another’s life because he did not go along with her racist agenda.

Then we have Barron’s comment of wanting to go up to the closest white person and slap him, just for his mental health.

Now these two want to sue for racial discrimination?

Since Barron is in the slapping mood, hopefully the City Council will wake up and slap them both with pink slips.

Peyser is right – Quinn is a wimp, but so are all white liberals faced with angry blacks.

Yes, Plummer is street garbage, but she was hired by a despicable racist who has been elected by his black district in Brooklyn.

What does this say about the mindset of so many Brooklynites? I guess we aren’t all a happy melting pot.
