A hero firefighter rescued a woman who had become trapped by a childproof window inside her burning Bronx apartment early yesterday, authorities said.
Lt. Joseph Lowney, who is assigned to Ladder 47 in Castle Hill, told The Post that he responded with 60 other firefighters to an apartment building at 2050 Seward Ave. after receiving an 8 a.m. call that a blaze had broken out on the 11th floor.
He said that’s where they saw the 56-year-old woman frantically waving her arms through child gates attached to a window.
Lowney rushed up to her apartment, where he used tools to force open the front door.
As the fire raged in the living room, Lowney discovered the semi-conscious woman slumped over near the window in her back bedroom, grabbed her and whisked her to safety.
Firefighters put out the blaze a half-hour later.
The cause of the conflagration remains under investigation.
