A top Manhattan prosecutor yesterday defended a decision that – for now – has let a suspect in the poker-game slaying of a New Jersey dad walk free.
Chief Assistant District Attorney James Kindler said prosecutors did not accidentally miss a deadline for seeking an indictment of William Delvalle, but instead consciously decided not to request it for the time being.
“The investigation is ongoing. We didn’t think it was the right time to go to a grand jury,” Kindler said.
