Talk about designer duds.
Six people were nabbed yesterday for importing nearly $20 million in counterfeit threads from China, federal authorities said.
The suspects allegedly hawked clothing with fake labels like “RocaWear,” “Coogi” and “Evisu” before laundering the proceeds in a scheme that unfolded over the past four years, prosecutors said.
After entering the country in Los Angeles, the clothing was sent to New York for sale.
The suspects were nabbed after informants bought some of the items in New York and overheard phone conversations about the scheme, according to a complaint filed in Manhattan federal court.
