The personal assistant to bludgeoned celebrity broker Linda Stein was indicted on murder charges yesterday – and the suspect’s relatives went berserk in a Manhattan courtroom upon hearing the news.
“Liars!” several people among more than a dozen supporters of 26-year-old Natavia Lowery shouted as they left.
“Do a good job next time, a–hole!” one yelled as the angry group filed past the two arresting NYPD detectives in the back of the room.
Then, referring to the amount of time Lowery was under interrogation before confessing to the murder last Friday, one yelled, “Eighteen hours you had her!”
Lowery, of The Bronx, has told family members and her lawyers that police coerced her into confessing that she bludgeoned Stein to death in the millionaire Realtor’s Fifth Avenue apartment.
“When someone you love is in this situation, sometimes it’s difficult to control,” said Lowery’s lawyer, Gilbert Parris.
The attorney has said he will try to get the confession thrown out on the grounds that Lowery was coerced and deprived of counsel.
Outside court, Lowery’s mother, Jeraldine Lottie, showed one of her daughter’s stuffed teddy bears to reporters.
“She’s a sweet, innocent child,” the mother cried. “The only thing she could be guilty of is having compassion.”
Lowery remains jailed without bail, and is due back in court Nov. 27.
