A Long Island grandmother was murdered and her 20-year-old grandson stabbed yesterday in what police say was a home invasion.
The body of the woman, whose identity is being withheld, was discovered after the wounded grandson, Matthew Watson, 20, called the police to her Alexander Avenue house in Nesconset at about 2 p.m.
When officers arrived, they found the woman dead and the grandson with several stab wounds.
The motive for the assaults was not immediately clear, but Detective Lt. Jack Fitzpatrick said that, “apparently, there have been some issues involving drugs in the past at this residence.”
Neighbors were shocked by the death of an adored friend.
“I loved her,” said Kelly Pickow, 40. “She was like family.”
