Warner Bros. will be hauling in massive bucks with “I Am Legend,” opening a week from Friday. It’s full of “wow” moments, beginning with Will Smith — as a medical researcher who is apparently the sole survivor of an epidemic that has either killed everyone else or turned them into zombies — hunting deer in a waist-high weeds in Times Square (picture) and Madison Square Park. This latest remake of the Richard Matheson classic (previously filmed as “The Last Man on Earth” with Vincent Price and “The Omega Man” starring Chuck Heston) features extensive shooting at Manhattan locations — Will plays golf on the Intrepid and hangs out below the ruins of the blown-up Brooklyn Bridge. These and some pulse-pounding battles with the zombies and the zombie dogs should guarantee huge grosses, though there is nothing storywise we haven’t countless times before.
