Two city lawmakers are calling for tax credits for grocers to encourage them to conserve plastic bags.
Several city proposals are on the table to reduce the use of plastic bags in the Big Apple, including one that would mandate large stores to set up recycling stations.
Councilwoman Gale Brewer (D-Manhattan) and Councilman Simcha Felder (D-Brooklyn) are proposing that state officials give incentives to store owners who provide cloth bags or don’t give away plastic bags.
