DES MOINES – Gennifer Flowers, who claimed to have had a steamy 12-year affair with Bill Clinton, is thinking about putting a woman in the White House – Hillary.
“I can’t help but want to support my own gender, and she’s as experienced as any of the others, except maybe Joe Biden,” she said.
Flowers, now a lounge singer in Las Vegas, added, “I would love to see a woman president; I just didn’t think it would be her.”
Flowers rocked Bill Clinton’s 1992 presidential campaign with her revelation of hanky-panky.
Clinton later testified he had a single sexual encounter with her.
Meanwhile, the former president said yesterday he would attend Cabinet meetings “only if asked.”
“And I think it would only be wise if it were on a specific issue,” he told ABC’s Barbara Walters. “I think it’s better for me to give her my advice privately most of the time.”
Clinton’s comments – though hedged – raised the prospect of an ex-president’s having an unprecedented role in a spouse’s administration.
“Pillow talk is one thing, but being there in the Cabinet room, that’s something else,” said Drake University politics professor Dennis Goldford.
