A motorcyclist cheated death yesterday when he survived being sent flying in a collision with a taxi on Manhattan’s East Side, cops and a witness said.
The unidentified, 39-year-old rider of a black Kawasaki was southbound on the FDR Drive’s service road at 10:15 a.m. when he smashed into the cab’s rear passenger-side door at East 34th Street.
“The guy just went in the air and flipped. He came down wrong,” said Eduardo Hernandez, 41, a parking-lot attendant who called 911 and comforted the injured man.
“He was having difficulty breathing,” Hernandez said. “At one point, it looked like he wasn’t breathing at all. He wasn’t moving.”
The unidentified cabby said he was turning left at East 34th Street when he was hit.
“[The biker] tried to stop but was sliding,” the cabby said. “There was nothing I could do.”
The motorcyclist was listed in stable condition at Bellevue Hospital last night. Cops said the accident involved no criminality.
