March 29 – Leonard Appel definitely hit the right note when he proposed to Sarina Fierman during the bride’s 29th birthday celebration at a karaoke bar. When the couple finished their signature duet of “Lady Marmalade,” Appel, an account director at Screenvision, popped the question to his girlfriend of four years. “I was shocked!” says the bride, a public relations and marketing executive at LaForce and Stevens. “It was such an unexpected, beautiful surprise.” The Chelsea couple was joined by 214 guests for their ceremony and reception at the Water’s Edge in Long Island City, Queens. There, the bride and groom walked down the aisle, while enjoying a sunset view of the Manhattan skyline, before heading off for an 11-day honeymoon in Moorea and Bora Bora.
