The Seattle Police Department’s campaign to recruit New York’s Finest with the prospect of higher salaries has certainly paid off.
More than 160 NYPD officers have signed up to take Seattle’s police exam at NYU on April 19.
They are among the 750 applicants who have responded to the department’s Big Apple marketing blitz during the past few weeks, which included a billboard on the West Side Highway near 54th Street and fliers distributed around the city.
Seattle Police are offering a $5,000 moving bonus and a starting salary of $47,334, nearly double the measly $25,100 that NYPD recruits earn at the academy.
