FLIGHT TURBULENCE EASING

American Airlines scrubbed 200 more flights yesterday, but expected to be back to normal today after nearly a week of nightmarish cancellations, endless rebooking lines and furious passengers.

The airline has canceled a total of 3,300 flights nationwide since Tuesday to conduct federally mandated inspections and repairs on hydraulic-pump wiring in its MD-80 fleet.

About 20 flights were canceled at New York area airports yesterday, “way down” from the 50 flights grounded Thursday, said an airline spokesman.
