The Metsâ clubhouse wasnât a pleasant place to be after their 9-7 loss to the Brewers this afternoon.
Willie Randolph (pictured) finally criticized his team for its sloppy play, which was low-lighted by the Mets hitting into five double plays, throwing three wild pitches and watching Oliver Perez blow an early four-run lead. âThat put a damper on a nice off-day, huh? Jeez,â Randolph said after the Mets fell below .500 (5-6) with an overall ugly display at Shea. âHitting into five double plays is what happens when you donât execute and take care of your business.â
A disgusted David Wright, who did his part to produce the Metsâ second consecutive loss by stranding five runners, agreed with Randolphâs harsh assessment.
âWe didnât execute and we didnât make pitches, and the result showed,â Wright said.
Randolph, Wright and several other Mets had many more critical things to say about this latest setback going into Mondayâs off-day. For further details and commentary, read Mondayâs edition of The Post â¦
