Mark Jackson, the Nets’ popular YES analyst the last three seasons and a top candidate to become coach of the Knicks, hit YES with a farewell bomb last night when he announced on the air he would not be returning to call Net games.
Jackson, after the Nets-Celtics game in Boston, told The Post he did not wish to comment on the Knicks position, but did say, “This was going to be it, anyway [on YES]. With a wife and four kids in Los Angeles, every game is a road game.”
Jackson’s relationship with YES had been poor since Jackson, two seasons ago, rejoined ABC/ESPN, apparently without consulting YES.
According to a source, YES had no idea Jackson reached a decision and was stunned he announced the decision on the air.
