And now it’s over, at least as head coach, his Knicks fittingly giving up 132 points in his coaching finale, Mike Dunleavy torching them again. They finish 23-59 – Larry Brown’s record. How poetic.
We’re expecting an official announcement tomorrow or Friday and the signs are he will be reassigned to an invisible position. There’ll be no press conference. Probably a press release and conference call.
Donnie Walsh received a standing ovation from the Conseco Field House crowd during a pregame ceremony. He called it the best “24 years of his life.” Let’s hope these next four top it.
Walsh will likely have the fifth seed in the lottery, with a 18.4 percent chance of moving up to the coveted 1 or 2 slots to be in position for Derrick Rose or Michael Beasley.
