A press release from the Mets …
The Mets today announced that they will honor the legacy of Hall of Fame sportswriter Jack Lang in a pre-game ceremony and video tribute Saturday, April 26, before hosting the Braves at 1:10 p.m. at Shea Stadium. The Mets will pay tribute to Lang and in the process raise funds for the Epilepsy Foundation of Long Island (EFLI) through a special fundraiser in Sheaâs Picnic Area. Tickets start at $10.
In addition, the launch of the new initiative for EFLI has already sold out 300 tickets in the left-field terrace, where a simultaneous event will be held.
Lang’s career as a baseball writer started in 1958, when he was hired by the Long Island Press to cover the Brooklyn Dodgers. He covered the Mets for 25 years, starting with their 1962 inception.
The Epilepsy Foundation of Long Island is committed to providing education, counseling and residential care to Long Island residents with epilepsy and related conditions.
