Two hoodlums shot a jeweler in the chest in West Brighton last night in a possible robbery attempt, cops said.
Louis Antonelli, 43, had just stepped out of the El Sabor Tropical restaurant and was putting food in the back of his SUV when the pair approached him at Broadway and Castleton Avenue at about 7 p.m. and opened fire, police said.
Antonelli, of Grasmere, was rushed to Richmond University Hospital, where he was in stable condition, said his wife, Jennifer.
Police didn’t know why Antonelli was targeted. Sources said the thugs may have tried to rob him, but a briefcase with jewelry was still in his car.
